Fairy and Flourish

Fairy and Flourish

I painted this wood trinket box with gesso, then Twinkling H2os, then brushed on  silver Jaquard mica powder. I put texture paste onto a cardstock doily. I painted with more H2Os. I painted over gesso on the fairy and flourish, used H2Os,then a layer of crackle, then more paint to bring out cracks. Then another layer of crackle. I put the chippies on, then the the little border curls. The curls I painted with liquid pearls. Then I embellished with things. The thought of making something I could put stuff into was interesting to me,  rather than a layout that I put in a pile with the rest of them.

Mermaid and Dolphin

I used some texture paste with a Prima stencil.  I painted the raised areas with Liquid Pearls.  I outlined them with gel pens and watercolors.  I used twinkle h20s using purple , blue , and mixed in some winton and lewis dark blue to make the color the more intense blue purple tinge I wanted. I used that color all over here to make the overall look more lavender, versus aqua.

I used little pieces of DA painted with a teal silk paint, some lumiers, then coated with crackle. When the crackle dried I put some more of the watercolor mix on, and that brought out the crackle effect. I like it better than chalk or ink because the watercolor doesn't affect the shine of the crackle.

Skinny Halloween Charleston

I wanted to pose bony gal in a Charleston dance pose, but I don't know if it worked. I asked a friend what she thought and she said "Thriller" as in the Michael Jackson video.
I had watched some youtube Charleston dances from the 1920s to get an idea how to pose her.  That dance is soo cute, and what a crazy time in history.

The skeleton , crow, and owl are from the dollar store. The feathers are from a boa from an old Halloween costume.  The black wire tree is very old, its base is a wad of clay in  an empty glass candle container.   Theres a clear transparency behind the crow with bats and branches on it.  Some of the brads are My Minds Eye.The stickers are Jolees.

the skeletons painted with Sharpies, Purple dylusions, purple metallic paint, lumiers, and mica powder. There are Swarovski flat backed crystals for the eyes, on her cheekbone and down the sternum. Theres a square lavender bling piece on the green tulle from  Abbygirl, thanks!
I appreciate very much any comments , and thanks for looking !!

The October   Fairy                                                                                                                                                                                         I poured a small amount of watercolor ide mixed up onto watercolor ppr. I blew on the puddle to streak it out into different directions. I got the idea from Contadina K's video on a watercolor of grapes. I decided it looked like a fairy, and colored in the rest of the piece. Then I used a calendar picture with fairies on it as a reference, and drew this.
There are ostrich feathers at the top. I put some flat back and bicone Swarovski crystals on, two moonstones, and some other types on. There are some dried flowers and leaves.

The butterfly on the right edge is leftover from a previous post in my gallery. I used texture paste and a MS stencil, let it dry, painted it , and cut it out from the piece of ppr I used.

Thrilling Halloween
This is for a Halloween atc swap with Reneabouquet.

The background is Dylusions mist on watercolor paper.  Its something I did months ago on a 8x10 piece of ppr.,and I cut out a piece that I thought went with the image. I had a great time doing a couple of them in different colors.   I get the whole sheet wet with a big brush and water.  Then I spray with dylusions. The nice thing about these mists is that theyre super easy to clean up after, and they don't mess up your brushes if you use them straight out of the bottle. I have a major love for bright colors, so stuff like this is right up my alley;the misting and the theme too.

The right edge has glitter and microbeads on it.  Beads first, then glitter, then more beads. The left edge has ribbon by it.Some of the bling is Swarovski bicone and flatback type crystal.
The thin feathers on top are from a peacock feather.

I started another atc with the same theme, Halloween, and hope to post it by tomorrow.
Thanks for visiting my blog!

California Sunset            My husband and I were blessed to be able to rent a small house a block away from the beach in Oxnard, California.  The towns  also known as Channel Islands, although the actual Islands are shown in the distance, in this photo.

We walked to the beach one evening, and set up a tripod.   Not knowing much about taking photos, we didn't realize we would show up in the pic backlit like this.   I still love the series of pics, the way the water looks in the background, and the memories they evoke .   We lived here just a few months.

I didn't buy any jewelry at the party.

I did do a small abstract in watercolors , and played around on several other pieces.   Its always fun making a mess.  I think I ruined a shirt.  I paint by a sink so, while that makes clean up easy, its still pretty gruesome looking. There are paint splatters on every surface, including the mirror.   DH usually averts his eyes from the entire room if he has to talk to me.  I have to say theres nothing more arty than throwing stuff around.   Cleaning it up , not so fun.

Im going to post a page or something that includes the fallish watercolor, within a couple days.

Today I'm going to a Silpada jewelry party.  If I see something I like, I'm going to buy it.
Before I go, I'm going to clean up my scraproom, and think about throwing some watercolors around on ppr.   Im not going to think too much , just going to put some colors on that look like fall, autumn.
