After The Rain

For the January Inspiration Board Challenge at Scraps of Darkness, Scraps of Elegance Mixed Media Community.

My Sister-In-Law took this beautiful photo at Sunken Meadow State Park . It's on the North Shore of Long Island, New York .

I mixed Windsor and Newton watercolors and Twinkling H20s to get the blue color.

I applied blue chalk over the dried crackle, to show the cracks .

I stamped on some tiny snowflakes. I put silver perfect pearls over them so they didn't make as much contrast against the pale background.

The feather has several layers of things. Gesso, then a mix of blue watercolors and pink Twinkling H20s. I put on a layer of Utee and heated it. I put on the same mix of paint, then another layer of Utee I painted it with Plaid liquid leaf paint in silver, sprinkled some silver glass glitter on, then painted again with the same silver. I put on the same mix of paint, then another layer of Utee I painted it with Plaid liquid leaf paint in silver, sprinkled some silver glass glitter on, then painted again with the same silver.

I put glossy accents around the feather, and in between the spaces.  I poured on embossing powder, and left it unheated.

An earring from my sister, underneath a flower I made. I used handmade paper that had a silver glitter pattern on it. I used a Tim Holtz die.

Shiny Chandelier

Hi everyone!Melissa here for  Gina's Designs. I hope everyone is enjoying their new year, and finding some time to scrap.

Here are the steps i used to make this:

1. Prep with gesso
2. Paint with liquid silver leaf paint
3.Mix purple twinkling H20s and blue watercolor paint and brush on whole surface
4. Sprinkle on gold embossing powder on sconces, melt with heat tool.
5. Swipe on some glossy accents, and sprinkle on metal silver glitter.
6. Paint surface with silver leaf paint
7. Brush on gold leaf paint

On one side I almost completely covered the surface with gold paint. I put more of the purple paint mix on it. On another side, I brushed the gold on lightly.

Last Light

Hi everyone! Melissa here with a layout for Gina's Designs and the Robin's Nest. I think the chipboard highlights and gives the page some movement. I like how you can dress up the chipboard with different colors, textures, and bling, or keep it simple, like I did. I just put on gesso, and topped it with glossy accents. I did sprinkle a little glitter glass on. I sponged on the gesso with a wedge of cosmetic sponge. It's easier and faster than painting it on.

Floral Book Box

Hi everyone! Melissa here with a Book Box by Gina's Designs.

These Book Boxes are both functional, and beautiful.  They come in handy to store items I don't want  to get damaged, or lost.  I made another one awhile ago and put ATCs in them.

I painted the binding with gold leaf paint.

Here are the steps I used for the flourishes:

1. Prep with gesso.
2. Dry brush with lavender acrylic paint.
3. Dry brush with teal acrylic paint.
4. Apply a thin layer of purple Twinkling H20s, so that the colors below still show.
5. Apply a thick layer of crackle accents.
6. Brush on purple-blue mica powder to help the cracks show.
7. Apply some Inka Gold.
8. Brush on a little gold leaf paint.

 For the leaves:

1. Prep with gesso.
2. Paint with green chalk ink.
3. While wet put on some green and brown watercolor.
4. Ink the edges with a green distress ink pad.
5. Apply a thick coat of crackle accents.
5. Brush on some purple mica powder.

For the  dragonfly:
