Garden Party

Hi everyone! Melissa here with a vintage page, I hope you like it.

The little gold flowers are glued onto twisted wire.

When I use stamps, I sponge on a little gesso over them after the ink has dried. I like a softer look, and the page doesn't get as busy.

On most of my pages I sponge a lot of gesso on.  This makes a nice base for the paint, otherwise it would get absorbed by the paper too much.  It also lets me use a lot of detail that might get lost in the pattern of the paper.

The little metal heart at the upper left of the photo is Vintaj.

I like the look of black tulle on vintage pages.  It's kind of romantic, and a little creepy at the same time.

I found the little gold fabric flower under the big Prima flower at Tuesday Morning. It came with some feathers.  I've used several of the flowers on older pages.

Here you can see the twisted wire and flowers. The clay butterfly is one I made using a Martha Stewart silicone mold.  I put gesso on, then a little gold lumiere paint, and some silver perfect pearls powder. I used MS molds for some round items also.

This is the page in the sun. I love how it shows every detail.

Lily Elsie

Hi everyone! This is a page featuring an actress from a long time ago, Lily Elsie.

On one of the layers I used Mini Moving Vines, a stencil designed by Gabrielle Pollacco. I painted the leaves with oil paint in a mix of green, blue, and white. I then added some Inka Gold on the rest, and outlined some leaves with a brown watercolor pencil. I softened the lines by brushing on a little water.

Beneath the vine layer is watercolor paper, which I painted pink, then brown with Lindy's Moon Shadow, and Inka gold. I topped it with some black tulle.

You can see a little Vintaj medallion under the flower cluster.

The Rose

Hi everyone, Melissa here with a vintage style page.

After I started this I made a list of a several techniques on pages that have done well.  I didn't want to finish, then post, and realize that I'd forgotten to use mica flakes, seed beads, or whatever.

The little items in the corners and by the photo are sculpy clay using Martha Stewart silicone molds. I put gesso and luminares, and Lindy's on the round ones. On the butterflies I used gesso, luminares, and perfect pearls.

The flat butterfly was made with texture paste and a Martha Stewart metal stencil.

I put some tulle on the page, and painted over it with Inka Gold Metallic Rub,and Lindy's. I use Inka Gold a lot! My jar of it dried out, but I just spray water in the container, and it's usable again.

You can see the bling better in the sun.

See the little clay bee in the center? I pressed a Prima stamp into warm wax I'de  dripped onto a piece of paper.  When it cooled off, I pressed Sculpy clay into it.

Thanks for looking!

Happy Halloween

Hi Melissa here, with a Halloween page.

It might be hard to see, but I poured gold glass glitter on the page to look as if it was coming from a little glass bottle.

I made the flowers by cutting circles from a roll of white organza ribbon.  I dyed the pieces with Lindy's, then held them near a flame to make them poof up, and to seal the edges.  I put two stitches in seven layers, rather than bother with glueing.  I put several types of things on the flowers to make some more color. I started with Inka Gold on top of gesso, but it just got absorbed too much. I put on green glitter glass, then more Inka Gold.

Sometimes it takes me awhile to get the effect I want for the background.   I wind up covering areas with gesso if things get to looking too busy.

I like the way pages look in the sun, but it does put a lot of shadows in there.
