Hi everyone! Here's a vintage art journal page.

To make this page I took out a sheet from my watercolor paper art journal book, and glued on a piece of canvas. I painted it with gesso.  I put beads on the Dusty Attic chipboard, and painted it with Lindy's Stamp Gang.  The flowers are from Scrapbook Diaries.

To add visual interest I also added shells, pearls, mica flakes, swarovski crystals, texture paste, chalk ink, and stamping.

I put a little Prima Steampunk Copper on some areas.

This is my take on the following challenges:

My Hero

My husband is always there for me, he "has my back", he is my hero. I admire his ability to handle situations with ease, his sense of humor, and his kind nature.
I have used 7 Dots paper, "Notes", from the Writer's Block collection, for the background.

To make this page I applied gesso with a credit card and paint brush. I applied modeling paste with a stencil made from a spellbinders die. I applied dry wall tape, and some ribbon on top.  I matted the photo of us on watercolor paper.  I added all the embellies, and painted gesso on a lot of them. Using almost all Lindy's Stamp Gang, and a little cobalt blue from Winsor and Newton I added color. The gold is Prima Art Alchemy Steampunk Copper. The sand looking material is Tim Holtz embossing powder in Linen.

The roses are Prima, the others are Petaloo. To add more visual interest, I applied metal litter, micro beads, rhinestones, beads, gauze, and flicked on some Lindy's Tibetan Poppy.

Thank you so much for looking, and have a great day!

Rich at Kings Canyon, California

When I think of harmony I think of my husband, and that's how this month's word inspired me. Our personalities are very different, but I believe we complement each other well. The love and harmony we share inspired me to use this photo of him, taken a long time ago near Kings Canyon National Park in California.  The song I have chosen, is Dirt Road Anthem by Jason Aldean, and I wrote two lines of it on the page. I love his voice, and the words about reminiscing evoke a huge feeling of love, mixed with nostalgia. Even though I can't hold a tune too well, I sing really loud when I hear this one!

To make this page I covered a piece of 12 x 12 watercolor paper with matt medium.  I used dry wall tape as a stencil and applied Prima crackle paste.  I started misting with blue and brown Tattered Angels. I put on modeling paste with a stencil to add more visual interest.  There was too much color on the page so I covered some with gesso, modeling paste, and dry embossing powder.

I love detail, so I added leaves from Recollections, you can tell I put them on upside down, the other side has gold print on them. I also put on shells, charms from 7 Gypsies, grey freshwater pearls, and birds from Martha Stewart.  The gold colors are mica powder, Finnabair's Alchemy Steampunk Copper, and her gold wax too.

The lace strip across the center is from Le Tresors de Luxe, the flowers on it are from Prima. There are pieces of lace around the page, it's bridal lace from Hobby Lobby(HL) The chipboard is from my stash. The oval medallions are pewter from Vintaj, the big heart at the bottom is by Tim Holtz.  There a couple metal flowers from HL.The little birds and butterflies are metal from Martha Stewart. The little girl is by Tim Holtz. The crystals are Swarovski, I got a great deal on them at my local scrapbooking store. The green crystals in settings are from Hobby Lobby. There are some glass pebbles and marbles.

You can see lots of metal glitter, and Ranger Distress glitter. I also used metal chain, lots of thread, a heart sticker, small lace four leaf flower pieces cut from some Le Tresors lace, and some very tiny flowers from my LSS. The word stickers are 7 Dots.

Mixed Media Heart Shaped Boxes

Hi everyone ! Melissa here, with a design team project for August's Mixed Media Warrior Moodboard.  I was inspired by the vintage theme photos, and have been wanting to put light colors on black gesso.

No automatic alt text available.

To make this project I painted two Martha Stewart paper mache boxes with black gesso. I glued the big items down with glossy accents, the lace, keys, and glasss pebbles, copper birds and dragonflies. I started with Prima waxes by Finnabair, but layered on several kinds of paint: silver and gold acrylic stencil paint by Momenta, Prima Opal Magic Paints, purple and turquoise enamel paints by Posh, Tattered Angels Mist in brown, Winsor and Newton Prussian Blue, Lindy's Magical in Yellow Rose of Texas, and blue chalk ink by Tsukineko.  I outlined some items with black gesso.  To add visual interest I glued on copper embossing powder, micro beads, seed beads, chain, a few rhinestones, and glass glitter.

The word stickers are from Tim Holtz. The safety pins are from 7 Gypsies. The mini bottle caps are from Hobby Lobby, the little photos in them are from some Susan Lenart Kazmer papers.

Thanks for looking, and have a great week!
