Woman in Blue Dress

Hi everyone! This is my entry for the September 2017 Lindy's Stamp Gang Challenge. The Lindy's Stamp Gang colors I've used include: Sea Mint Green and Glory of the Seas Gold from the Mermaid Seashells Magical Shimmers Powder Set,and Bachelor Button Blue and Mission Bells Brown from the Prairie Wildflower Magical Shimmer Powders Set,   Click this link for Lindy's Challenge Info

To make this page I glued Blue Fern paper onto a piece of cardboard, in hopes that the paper wouldn't warp with the gesso and paint I planned on using. I coated the paper with mat medium, and sponged on some gesso with a cosmetic sponge across the center. I applied texture paste with a stencil and old credit card.

The Crafters Workshop - 6 x 6 Doodling Templates - Mini Love to Fly

The chipboard is actually a small wood frame I got at Hobby Lobby. I broke it in half ,applied gesso, then layers of Lindy's. I mounted the photo on a piece of cardboard. I dyed cheesecloth with Mission Bells Brown, and glued some on the page.

I brushed on layers of paint on the paper, usually letting them dry,but sometimes adding different colors while wet. I dabbed off excess in different areas. I sponged on gesso to areas if I thought things were looking too busy.

To add more visual interest I used micro beads, seed beads, mica flakes, rub ons, bling, dried moss, a quote sticker, tiny pieces of lace, and pearls.

I splattered on paint in areas, and also glued on tiny pieces of blue feathers.

I love the gold shimmer from the Lindy's!

I put metal glitter in the bottle and sealed the opening with glue. There's also some rhinestones in the stream of glitter pouring out of it. I dyed a piece of silk ribbon with Lindys and tied it onto a pin.
Thank you so much for looking, and have a great week!

Fearless in Neon

Hi everyone! Melissa here with my entry for the More Than Words September 2017 Main Challenge FEARLESS & GRUNGE.  I have faced a lot of fears in my life, and to me this photo is of someone who is very calm, cool, ready for battle, and FEARLESS. I added GRUNGE with black paint splatters, a rough surface on the cardboard, beads tossed on randomly, and a generally messy look.

I bought this Reminisce paper at my LSS, I was amazed by the color and look of the butterflies. It is definitely one of my favorite colors. I used a Prima stencil and put on texture paste. I later spritzed it with Tattered Angels mists. The cardboard has layers of paint, clear embossing powder, and mica powder.

The lace is Tresors, the flowers are by Prima and Recollections.

The little gold faces are by Sculpy, I used clay, baked them, prepped with gesso, and painted with some gold Momenta stencil paint. I added a little purple mica powder on two of them.  I used Heidi Swap  Black Sugar mist around the edges of the cardboard, and on around many other areas.

I dyed cheesecloth with Tattered Angels Mist in Purple Rain and Rasberry Blue. I painted the chipboard with Prima Finnabair-Art Alchemy-Sparks Acrylic Paint Iris Potion,  black gesso,  Faber Castelle gelatos in orange, and gold paint.

I made the orange flower with satin awhile ago. I added orange glass beads, sequins, distress glitter, micro beads around it. I used a Derwent Inktense pencil in Bark around the edges of the texture paste, and softened it with water.
Thank you so much for looking, and have a great week!

Miranda Lambert

Hi everyone! Melissa here with my entry for the 7 Dots August Challenge: Favorite Artist.
Country Music star Miranda Lambert performs music that make me want to drop everything, listen, and sing along to.  You wouldn't want to hear me, but that's ok. Her voice is beautiful and moving.
I have used paper from the Writer's Block collection for the background.

I covered the paper with matt medium, put some gesso on, followed by texture paste through a stencil.I sprayed the page with Tattered Angels over Walnut Stain, and other distress inks. I dyed the lace and cheesecloth with inks.I put cardboard under the photo, then put the lace and other embellies around it. I used Prima Finnabair Art Alchemy Paints in Steampunk Copper, Dragon's Eye, and Fairy Wings on the chipboard, and on different spots on the page.

To add more visual interest I added mica flakes, pearls, bling, metal glitter, seed beads, micro beads, dried moss, sequins, and metal.

I treated the chipboard with gesso, then topped it with paint and Clear Rock Candy Crackle Paint.

The sticker is by 7 Dots.

I brushed on more paint on the lace.

Thank you so much for looking, and have a great week!

Audrey Hepburn

Hi everyone! Melissa here with a DT layout for the Mixed Media Warriors Challenge Blog.

To make this page I put drywall tape on a sheet of 12 x 12 watercolor paper. I put gesso on the chipboard to prep it, then dabbed on a thick coat of texture paste with a brush. I swirled the paste as if I was frosting a cake.  I painted on a mix of purples and blues from Dylusion Mists, Tattered Angels, and Lindy's. I layered on Finnabairs waxes, gold acrylic stencil paint from Moments, and Prima Steampunk Copper Acrylic paint.

I glued on pieces of a silver lace applique from Tresors de Luxe, and a few fussy cut Graphic 45 things - ferns, and a butterfly.

I started filling in colors on the white paper bg, I used a mix of Tattered Angels in Rasberry Blue with Lindys Sea Mist Green, and Rich Mocha by itself. It got too busy so I put on some texture paste and gesso to cover the colors up.  I put black gesso behind the chipboard, then Violet Green Opal Magic Art Alchemy over the black.

I added bling and pearls, shells, glitter, microbeads, glitter glue, white embossing powder, Petaloo flowers, silk ribbon from my LSS, and lavender trim from Hobby Lobby.

I painted on some silver acrylic paint and gold mica powder.

There are several layers of medium on the chipboard, it took awhile before I got the result I wanted.

Thank you so much for looking, and have a great week!

Mermaid Card

Hi everyone! Melissa here with a design team project for the Mixed Media Warriors Challenge Blog.

To make this 7 x 6 "card I took watercolor paper and glued on a piece of textured ribbon that looks a little like seaweed. I painted gesso over it, and put on the rest of the embellies. The flowers are from Prima. I gessoed and painted the chipboard with Tibetan Poppy Teal by Lindy's, and Tattered Angels Rich Mocha. I layered on a thick coat of Rock Candy Crackle, and let it dry overnight. I fussy cut the mermaid from paper by Kaisercraft.

To add visual interest I added a little texture paste, sequins, rhinestones, shells, metal, bling, metal glitter, micro beads, white embossing powder, wire, and ribbon.

Thank you so much for looking, and have a great week!
