Choose to Shine

Hi everyone! Melissa here with a design team page for Reneabouquets!  I was craving purple, so I picked this photo, and the fabulous lavender Moon Dance Moths to match.

To make this page I used paper from Blue Fern Tattered Walls. I applied texture paste with a Prima  stencil and a credit card. I attached a piece of cardstock to the back of the photo with double sided foam tape. I put a piece of watercolor paper under the photo, then two layers of foam core board.

I used foam tape to attach the layers to the page. I painted the watercolor paper with Shimmerz Paints. I painted the Beautiful Board(BB), with Shimmerz, then applied a thick coat of Ranger Clear Rock Candy Crackle. I brushed on a little Prima Dragon's Eye Alchemy Paint, and more Shimmerz. I scribbled some Bark Derwent Inktense Watercolor Pencil onto a piece of paper, added water, and brushed along the edges of the chipboard. I wanted to make the cracks on the surface more visible.

I dyed some gauze with Shimmers watercolors, and placed a little around the photo. To add visual interest I applied micro beads, seed beads, sequins, glass glitter, metal pieces, gold lace, feathers, lichens, pressed flowers, crystals,Beautiful Beads, glass beads, and a few small paper flowers.

After I added items, I brushed over them with watercolors. I also ran a Bark colored Derwent Inktense watercolor pencil over the surface of different areas.

I did a lot of dry brushing with the gold  paint, Prima Art Alchemy Sparks Paint, in Dragon's Eye.

The large flakes are amazing to work with, I painted over them a little to create even more texture.

Here is a list of the items from Reneabouquets that I used:

Let Your Spirit Take Flight

Hi everyone!Melissa here with a page for Shimmerz Paints! I love using these paints, the quality and shimmer are amazing!

I was craving pink, so I picked this photo to work with. I also really wanted to use flowers, and everything else had to balance with them. I wanted to keep those flowers, and not have things get so busy I'd have to take them off.

I took a piece of Blue Fern Paper from Seaside Cottage, and applied texture paste with a stencil. I picked out some chipboard from Reneabouquet, and decided where it would go.

I attached cardstock to the underside of the photo with double sided foam tape. I put two layers of foam core board under the photo. I attached the layers to the page. I wanted some room under the photo to tuck things into.

I sponged on gesso with a cosmetic sponge, to make a surface for the paint. Otherwise the paper just soaks up the paint.

What I like the effect of is painting over different items with paint. I pooled the paint over micro beads, and it gives the beads a lot of definition. Sometimes I used gesso, then painted over that.  I added a lot of glass shard pieces from Reneabouquet, and brushed Dear John Letter Inklingz over it.

To add visual interest I used the following: micro beads, seed beads, pearls, bling, Prima flowers, sequins, crystals, plastic and glass rhinestones, gold leaf, mica, glass glitter, threads of cheesecloth, lace, metal from Tim Holtz, pressed dried flowers and leaves, lichen, moss, bark, and feathers. I fussy cut a few things from Graphic 45 and other places.

The chipboard was first painted with gesso, then Shimmerz, and finally coated with Ranger Clear Rock Candy Crackle. I added more paint on top.

The title sticker is from 7 Dots. I drew around it with a Derwent Inktense watercolor pencil, and brushed on water to soften the lines. I used the pencil in several areas around the page. I was trying to give the page more definition and depth.

I rubbed on gold mica powder in different places. I glued on all the embellishments and pieces with Glossy Accents. I used a lot of gesso over the textures, and left a lot just white. I kept adding gesso to keep things balanced, and not too busy looking. At the end I rubbed on white mica powder.

Noted

Hi everyone! Melissa here with a design team page for Shimmerz Paints! I love the color and sparkle of this product.
I was inspired by the steampunk look of the photo, and wanted to extend the colors of it onto the page.

To make this page I used paper from Blue Fern. I stenciled on texture paste with a Prima stencil. I arranged the Beautiful Board Chipboard by Reneabouquet, and put the photo on with two layers of foam core board. I sponged on gesso on the page with a cosmetic sponge. I painted the chipboard with gesso, then Christmas Cheer Shimmerz, then a thick layer of Clear Rock Candy Crackle. I did the same with some of the raised areas of the texture paste.

I added Colder Than Ice Shimmerz to some areas of  the chipboard and background. I put the microbeads on next by putting on some glossy accents, and pouring the beads on.
The dark shading is Penny 4 Your Thoughts Inklingz.

To add visual interest I added more micro beads, seed beads, distress glitter, lichen, dried flowers, feathers, rhinestones, charms, metal pieces, chain, gold leaf, lace, ribbon, glass beads, shells, tulle, mica flakes, and more. The dragonfly is from Vintaj.

The key and the metal shield are from Tim Holtz.

I also added a few other shades of yellow to the chipboard, Old Yeller and Miner, Miner 49er Inklingz, in kind of random places.  I painted some gesso on and put on more of the same colors I've mentioned. I rubbed on some gold mica powder on a few areas. The very pale pink color is Dear John Letter Inklingz.

Thank you so much for looking, and have a great week!

Fortune Favors the Bold

Hi everyone! Melissa here with a design team page for Reneabouquets! Go on over to the store to see all the beautiful things!
I was inspired by the photo to make something that had an "in the woods feel."

I applied gesso with a cosmetic sponge over the paper where I'd be putting paint on.I stenciled on texture paste with a credit card and a 13 Arts stencil. You can't see it that much, it's kind of subtle, it has little flowers and at the top you can see a few words.
I picked out Beautiful Board(BB) chipboard and put the photo on,with 2 layers of foam core board under the photo. This is to give it dimension, and to have some space to tuck things into.

Once I had the BB glued on , I thought about what colors to paint it. It started off purple, Art Alchemy -/Sparks - Iris Potion, and I put on a thick layer of Ranger Clear Rock Candy on top.To highlight the cracks, I took a black watercolor crayon, scribbled a lot on my craft mat, and mixed it with a little water. I painted the edges of the BB, and just by holding the brush against the edge, the cracks absorb the dark color.

I wasn't happy with the purple, so I continued adding more colors, some Art Alchemy- Sparks - Fairy Wings,Walnut distress stain, gold mica powder, Tattered Angels, and Shimmerz. I put on another layer of Rock Candy Crackle. To make the BB stand out more, I painted underneath it with black gesso. On top of the gesso, I smoothed on glossy accents, and sprinkled on lavender glitter glass.

I added more color on the glitter.

To add visual interest I used the following, diamond shard glitter glass, microbeads, glass beads, beautiful beads, seed beads, glass glitter, distress glitter, metal glitter, rhinestones, metal, purple wire, ribbon, tulle, feathers, dried moss, dried flowers and leaves, lichen, shells, mica flakes, and more.

I used a lot of White Gold Prima Wax on everthing, I rubbed a little on all over.

I love using metal on my pages, and bling too.I went around the page and painted on more of the watercolor crayon mix, to tone down the shiny surfaces. I applied it over a lot of the glued on glitter and most of the items with it too, I just liked the way it tied things together.

I had a hard time deciding which photos here to use,so I used a lot.

The purple flower is from Reneabouquets, and so are the little green BB leaves. I painted them green and put Crackle on top.

Here is a list of things I used from Reneabouquets:
