Move Ever Forward

Hi! Here's my latest design team page for Shimmerz Paints! I've picked Imperial Amethyst Inklingz for my Color Challenge, as the focal point of the page. I chose purple because it's one of my favorite colors.  I added brown, gold, yellow, and green because they all work together as tones for fall. I added embellishments that I thought fit.

It's not a bright purple tone, to me it's kind of mysterious looking.

To make this page,I used 49 and Market paper. I got my inspiration from a photo on Pinterest,  used with permission from Drew Smith. I wanted to change my style, so I added more dimension with corrugated cardboard, extra layers of foam coreboard, and pieces of  Stamperia's Art Alchemy paper.

I stenciled on texture paste with a credit card, and when dry, sponged on gesso with a cosmetic sponge.I picked out the Renebouquet chipboard, and Stamperia. I arranged things, then took the chipboard out to start painting. I used Imperial Amethyst on the leaves, along with Green Olive Shimmerz , and Penny 4 Your Thoughts Inklingz. I painted like this, I dropped the purple into the wet green, and dabbed on a little Penny.Once I put a thick layer of Clear Rock Candy on, that's what makes the colors look like they do, less random.

I painted the cardboard white, and put everything together, using double sided foam tape. I brushed on some Christmas Cheer Shimmerz over the white gesso on the cardboard. I painted the clock faces with Green Olive and a little Penny 4.

To add visual interest I added microbeads, seed beads, glass glitter, gold mica flakes,  Prima flowers, dried leaves, lichen, bark, a pinecone, artificial flower pieces from floral picks, shells, pearls, rhinestones, Tim Holtz metal, chain, Vintaj metal,Finnabair metal, dyed cheesecloth, silk ribbon, and sequins. If you look above the 7 Dots title sticker, you can see a purple thistle. It's actually from my son's wedding last week, it's part of one of the boutonnierres.

The bee on the left and the tiny butterfly right on the photo are from Reneabouquet.

At the end I added more layers of Amethyst to the watercolor paper, and the stenciled areas. I brushed a little gesso on almost everything, and topped it with Amethyst. I dabbed on gold mica powder all over to kind of highlight and warm up the colors.

Thank you so much for looking, and have a blessed week!

Live Inspired

Hi everyone! Melissa here with a page for Shimmerz Paints! I have used some of my favorite colors to help express my love of creating pages. The shimmer and quality of this line is amazing!

To make this page I used a small cosmetic sponge to make a base,on the center, so the 49 and Market paper didn't soak up the paint. I applied texture paste with a stencil. I put the photo on watercolor paper and layers of foam core board. I painted the watercolor paper with a mix of Blue My Mind, and Emerald City Inklingz. I put tulle around the photo to add definition.

I painted the Reneabouquet chipboard with gesso, Green Olive Shimmerz , Penny 4 Your Thoughts Inklingz, and a thick layer of  Rock Candy Crackle. I painted cheese cloth with Green Olive and a little water, and placed it around the photo.

To add visual interest I added micro beads, seed beads, glass glitter, diamond shards, mica flakes, Prima flowers, dried leaves, lichen, moss, shells, lace, tulle, pearls, rhinestones, Tim Holtz metal, chain, old jewelry, and sequins. The little wood spool has silk ribbon on it.

I added a lot of gesso around the edges because the page got too busy. I added Penny 4 Your Thoughts around the photo layers, on the background paper, to add definition. The pink colors I used are A Rose By Any Other Name, Dear John Letter, and Angels Kiss Inklingz.  I painted on gesso in different areas to make things look less busy.

Thank you so much for looking, and have a great week!

Peace Begins With A Smile

Hi everyone! Melissa here with a page for Reneabouquets! I was inspired by the photo to make something floral. I think the Beautiful Board(BB) chipboard reflects the elegance and mood I wanted.

To make this page I used a Prima Stencil to apply texture paste. I mounted the the photo, taken by Gisela Ackerup, on layers of foam core board and watercolor paper.

I painted the BB with gesso, green and brown Shimmerz Paints, and applied a thick coat of Ranger Rock Candy Crackle.

I put some gold painted cheesecloth under the BB, and started adding other things. To add visual interest I glued on micro beads, seed beads, plastic and glass crystals, shells, lichen, pressed leaves, glass balls, glass glitter, distress glitter, diamond glass shards, lace, silk ribbon, feathers from my yard, bling, metal trinkets and charms.

I painted a lot of areas with both Shimmerz and Prima Sparks Art Alchemy Acrylic Paint.

I glued rhinestones onto the metal frame in the small holes. I used a piece of Prima paper from Wild and Free, and put a layer of Dimensional Magic over it.

Here's a list of products I used:

Woman With Crown

Hi everyone! Melissa here, with a design team page for Reneabouquet!I was inspired by the photo to use things that reflected the ornate crown the woman is wearing. The Beautiful Board (BB) is Art Nouveau inspired, I love all the detail of it. The Blue Fern paper has a pattern that is similar to the BB.

To make this page I applied texture paste using a 13 Arts stencil.  I put layers of foam core board, cardstock, and watercolor paper between the photo and the bg paper.

I painted cheesecloth with Shimmerz and Art Alchemy Paints. I I painted the B B with gesso, Art Alchemy Sparks,Dragon Eye, followed by a layer of Rock Candy Crackle.

I cut the frame to fit around the photo.
To add visual interest, I added a lot of items: Prima flowers, metal, old jewelry, pressed leaves, feathers, lichen , moss, leaves, glass beads, micro beads, seed beads, pearls, glass glitter, lace, tulle, a little stamping, and rhinestones. I fussy cut a few things from Graphic 45's Fairy Frost collection.

I used a few other Prima Sparks colors on the BB frame, Unicorn's Hair,Mermaid Sparkle,Butterfly Spells, and Shimmerz Paint in Teal the End of Time.

I think the glass fairy orb is amazing!
I wanted to limit the amount of colors I used on the page, because the frame is ornate, and the photo has a lot of detail.

I put a little gesso on each flower, and painted over it with a mix of diamond shards and Unicorn Hair Prima Sparks paint.

The BB snowflakes were sheer pleasure just to look at. I painted them with gesso, Shimmerz, and DecoArt Metallic Luster Wax, in Silver Spark. I applied a layer of Rock Candy Crackle, and dabbed a little blue watercolor on to help define the cracks.
I took a black watercolor crayon, held it sideways, and kind of shaded the raised edges of the frame and other items, to add depth and definition.

Here is a list of Reneabouquets items I used:
