Leave a Little Sparkle Wherever You Go

Hi everyone! Melissa here with a design team page for Shimmerz Paints! I love the intensity, texture, and gleam of these paints! They are such a pleasure to work with. The photo is from Sofi Kaveller, I used it with her permission.

To make this page I sponged gesso on Blue Fern Paper. I applied texture paste with a stencil and a credit card. I ripped some of the top layer off corrugated cardboard, painted it with gesso, and poured on some Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel. I assembled the layers and placed them on the page. The photo is backed with cardstock and double sided tape,so it would lie flat. I used watercolor paper for a mat, put it on the cardboard, with foam core board in between all layers.

I prepped the Reneabouquets chipboard with gesso, and painted it with Christmas Cheer Shimmerz, followed by a thick layer of Ranger Clear Rock Candy. The Christmas Cheer is one of my favorite colors,it's so shiny, bright, and has a lot of blingy texture. I painted the edges with black gesso. I put it on the page, and started adding everything else. I added pieces of Alchemy paper by Stamperia around the cardboard.

To add visual interest I added micro beads, seed beads, glass beads, plastic crystals, pearls, rhinestones, Vintaj brass jewelry, Tim Holtz metal, metal chain and jump rings, a Prima metal key, dried pressed flowers, bark, lichen, moss, mica powder, mica flakes, metal glitter, Swarovski crystals, charms, glass marbles, shells, cheesecloth, and tulle. I used ribbon, and pieces from fall and winter picks from Hobby Lobby. The butterfly is from Reneabouquets.

I added more color on top of the chipboard, I brushed on a little Pugnacious Purple,Blue My Mind, and Olive U Truly  Inklingz.

I randomly dabbed on gold mica powder all over the page,on raised edges.

Things were looking pretty grey until I started adding the purple, and then the Key Lime Shimmerz kind of made things pop.

This next batch of pictures are from my cell phone camera. I think I can get better detail with it than my regular one.

I added a lot of layers of paint on the cardboard. While paint was wet I poured on diamond glass glitter,in various areas all around the page.  At the top left corner of the photo you can see a stick pin with a Swarovski butterfly on it. Underneath the stickpin, and the chipboard, there are layers of Pugnacious Purple and Angel's Kiss Inklingz

When I do a page, I never know if it's going to really work. Sometimes I just have to keep adding and taking away things, and layers of paint. I do my pages over a period of days.

The little hummingbird is from a calendar. You can see the silver mica powder I dabbed and rubbed  all over the page. This was to offset the white matte look of the gesso.

The yellow behind the chipboard is from pressed flowers.

Adding small pieces of tulle was one of the last steps. At the end I added a lot of tiny dried flowers around the photo.

The green stripe there is Key Lime Shimmerz. I was drawing out the colors from the photo.

The title sticker is from Tim Holtz. The brown at the bottom left of the layers, and on the right side of  mat, is Penny 4 Your Thoughts Inklingz. I put in some stripes of Vibez Rolling in the Hay, to continue the colors of the dress. Next to them were stripes of Key Lime Shimmerz. There are stripes of Key Lime to the left of the photo.

The flower is from Prima. You can see gold mica powder on the Observations tag, also paint.

On the very edge of the cardboard there's a thin line of Vibez Grape Escape. Thank you so much for looking, and have a great week!

Practice Kindness

Hi everyone! Melissa here with a design team page for Shimmerz Paints!  I love the color, shine, and texture of Shimmerz a lot. I chose this photo because it has a little of a fall atmosphere, and I love owls. I found the photo on Google free photo, the artist is A M Lorek.

To make this page I used Blue Fern paper from the Remnants collection, and pieces from Stamperia's Alchemy line. I put a piece of cardstock under the photo with double sided tape. This was to help the photo lie flat and to make it more sturdy. Under that is watercolor paper with foam core board in between. I tore part of the surface off the corrugated cardboard and coated the outside with gesso, and put two layers of core board underneath it.I painted the watercolor paper with First Blush Inklingz, and used Christmas Cheer Shimmerz on the cardboard. I applied texture paste around the page with a stencil and a credit card, and added some gesso on the paper.

I prepped Reneabouquets chipboard with gesso, then painted it with Green Olive Shimmerz.I added a thick layer of Ranger Clear Rock Candy. All the yellow on the page is Christmas Cheers Shimmerz. Almost all the brown on the page is Penny 4 Your Thoughts. I took a Bark Inktense Watercolor Pencil and rubbed it over the raised areas of the texture paste, then brushed on water to soften the lines.

To add visual interest I added micro beads, seed beads, rhinestones, plastic crystals, glass beads, glass pebbles, pearls, glass glitter, mica powder, shells, moss, lichen, feathers, pressed flowers, Prima flowers, a pinecone, and pieces from artificial flower picks. The little pressed yellow flowers are buttercups. The metal butterfly and big gear type pieces are from Finnabair. The key and small heart, and word metal is from Tim Holtz. There are a few small things from Vintaj.

I added chain and jump rings to all the Tim Holtz metal. I always like to make a cluster of things under the photo. I used pieces of dyed cheesecloth around the page.

I love how shiny the Christmas Cheer is!

This and the next three photos are from my cell phone. It was cloudy outside and I thought these would show more detail.

The stencil has a clockface with a bee in the center. It's kind of hard to see.

I added Penny 4 Your Thoughts to the microbeads in a lot of places. I dabbed on gold mica powder on many areas.

Thank you so much for looking, and have a great week!

What a Wonderful World

Hi everyone! Here's a design team page for Reneabouquets!I've used a photo from the recent wedding of my son and his wife. I was inspired by the happiness of the occasion.

To make this page I mounted the photo on layers of watercolor paper and foam core board. I took Beautiful Board April In Paris Floral Medallion Set Laser Cut Chipboard (BB),and used the largest one. I cut it in half and used half at each end. I painted it and the watercolor paper with Art Alchemy Steampunk Copper Acrylic Paint by Prima. I poured on a thick layer of Rock Candy Crackle Paint on the BB.Using Blue Fern paper, I applied texture paste with a stencil and a credit card, and painted the paste with the copper paint.

I put the BB on with double sided foam tape, and painted underneath it with black gesso. I poured diamond chunky glitter glass on the gesso.I outlined the BB with a Derwent Inktense Watercolor Pencil, in Bark.

I painted in between the raised areas of texture paste with Shimmerz Inkling in Penny 4 Your Thoughts, and Greener Pastures. I painted the raised areas in some cases with Sparks Art Alchemy paint in Unicorn Hair.

To add visual interest I added microbeads, glass beads, pearls, glass glitter, diamond shard glitter glass, gold mica flakes, birch bark, lichen, pressed flowers, tulle, metal pieces, rhinestones, Swarovski crystals, and a glass vial.  The burgundy ribbon is from one of the boutonnieres the groomsmen wore. I dyed some cheesecloth green with Shimmerz paint and Distress Ink.

Adventure Awaits

Hi everyone, here's a design team page for Reneabouquet!  I have used a wedding photo from my son and daughter in law's recent heartfelt, amazing, and beautiful wedding.   I was inspired by the photo, the emotions of the event, and the colors of the fall season. I used Graphic 45 Steampunk Debutante, available at Reneabouquets.

To make this page I mounted the photo onto watercolor paper, corrugated cardboard, and layers of foam core board. I picked out Beautiful Board(BB) to use, and cut out a few images from the G 45 papers. I painted all the chipboard and cardboard with gesso, to give the surface some "tooth", so the paint has something to grip onto. I painted all the surfaces with paint by Shimmerz, then topped them with Ranger Clear Rock Candy Crackle.

I glued the Beautiful Board down with Glossy Accents, and started adding embellishments.

To add visual interest I added a number of things: Beautiful Beads Pearls, glass beads, micro beads, seed beads, glass glitter, distress glitter, metal pieces, shells, pressed flowers, bark, lichen, artificial foliage parts, tulle, rhinestones, and mica flakes.

 I
I added a little gesso to almost everything, to give a white surface to add more paint on. I brushed on layers of paint, mica powder, and Prima Wax where I put the gesso, and onto the BB.

There are about four different colors of Shimmerz Paints on the watercolor paper, and I added some glass glitter, and more Prima gold wax, at the bottom.

Here's a list of products I used:
