Scenic Photo

Scenic Photo

This layout is inspired by the soft colors of the vintage books, roses, and peaceful mood of all the photos in the April Inspiration Board Challenge.

On a  12 x 12 piece of watercolor paper I painted stripes of colors on,using a #8 flat brush . I used Twinkling H20s and Winsor and Newton watercolors.  I made a few layers on a lot of the page, letting each layer dry before I put another one on.

I sponged on gesso in different areas because I wanted to soften the hard edges of the stripes. I let it dry partially, then misted water on, I turned the page around to make the water and gesso mix run and drip all over.

I stenciled on some modeling paste.

I punched a border of holes with an embroidery needle, and stitched a line all around, using a backstitch.  I flipped the ppr so that what you see is the reverse of that stitch.

I put silver perfect pearls all over. I brushed on blue chalk, and also purple mica powder.

I put a few layers of Twinkles on the edges.
I put crackle accents on the upper right, and when dry brushed on blue chalk to emphasize the cracks. I rubbed on some perfect pearls, and then a layer of paint.

Cards in Pastel Colors

Hi everyone! Melissa here with two cards for Gina's Designs. I think these buttons are so cute, and fit well with the style of the cards. I also used fern, leaf, bird, and daisy pieces. They're all so versatile, and I've used them in several of my projects.
I prepped all the chipboard with gesso. I used oil paint on the buttons, daisy, and ferns. On the little bird I used Twinkling H20s, and watercolors. On the leaf I used chalk ink topped with crackle paint.

Thank you so much for looking, and I hope you can find a little time to create something today!

Sweet Summer

Hi everyone! Melissa here with a 12 x 12 mixed media layout for Gina's Designs.
I love how the chipboard fits the summer season so well. There are some for the beach, backyard,a picnic, or camping. I also used one of my favorite items of Gina's, a beautifully cut daisy. I have used them on several projects.
I prepped the all the chipboard with gesso. I used oil paint on all of them except the daisy, which is watercolor over modeling paste. I put some paste on and made lines in it with a straight pin.
I used pictures from the internet as references to paint the rest of the chipboard.
I added crackle paint on the lemon. I put some blue chalk on with a brush to show the cracks.
On the pitcher I added some glitter glass. To show lemonade pouring I used texture from the stencil, yellow flowers, glitter, and rhinestones in a stream of glossy accents.

Thank you so much for looking, and I hope you can find a little time to create something today!

Remember the Journey

Hi everyone! Melissa here with a layout for Gina's Designs. My mother-in-law took this photo at Land's End, in Cornwall.
I had a lot of fun decorating the chipboard, as usual!
For the background I applied texture paste on a texture sheet, then sponged on gesso. I then painted with Viva Modeling Cream, then a little Lindy's, watercolors, and Twinkling H20s.
I prepped all the chipboard with gesso. I drew some detail on the seahorse with a pencil, then painted it with brown watercolor. I added some gold perfect pearls. I took off some of the brown later with a wet brush, to give it a little more dimension, and put some more paint on different areas. On the gears on the upper right, and the flourish at the right of the photo I poured gold embossing powder on wet gesso, then heated it. The gesso made it bubble up for some extra texture.I dry brushed some Vintaj patina paint on top. I painted the gears at the bottom right and center of the photo with brown watercolor, I applied a layer of glossy accents and put the items on a pile of crushed up mica flakes. I topped them with some patina paint. For the title work I painted with twinkling H20s, then put on some versamark embossing ink. I poured on chunky clear embossing powder and heated it.

Thanks for looking, and I hope you find some scrappy time for yourself today!
