Purple Card

I made this using the beautiful Scraps of Elegance August kit Mallika's Whimsy.

I painted some areas with a combination of green and brown watercolors. I took a purple gelato and rubbed it on some of the texture paste letters, after they were dry.  I wasnt happy with the hard edges of the gelatos, so I misted lightly all over with water.  Things were looking a little muddy, so I dried everything, and sponged on some gesso. I put the flowers on and kept working on the background. I rubbed on gold, and silver mica powders on the stenciled words.

A Moment In Time

I made this with the beautiful August Scraps of Elegance kit, Mallika's Whimsy.
I cut up pieces of paper from the July kit, and glued them on the background.  I used pieces of cardboard between  some of the layers to create dimension. I sponged gesso on with cosmetic sponges on the bg, then put on some texture paste with stencils. I put a paintbrush into a container of clear rock candy distress paint and scooped out about half a tsp of it, and poured it on the bg. I let it air dry.  As far as I know, it doesn't dry well with a heat gun.  I painted the bg with Lindy's Stamp Gang, Twinkling H20s,Viva Decor Inka Gold, and Winsor and Newton watercolors.  I inked the bg ppr around the edges, with Ranger Distress Ink in brown.

I painted parts of the  flowers lightly with gesso, then went back and painted them with Lindy's Stamp Gang, and  Viva Decor Inka Gold.

Beautiful

This photo of my son's girlfriend was taken with an underwater camera, the dots on it are air bubbles.

She has a great sense of humor, and so does my son. They're really cute together, goofing around, and making jokes.

I made this page using the beautiful Scraps of Elegance August kit,Mallika's Whimsy.

I took a metal cookie tin, and wrapped floral wire around it three times, then took it off, and tied it with more wire, to keep it a circle. I wrapped floral tape around it.  I did this three times, then cut each circle, and wrapped the 3 pieces around each other.

I painted the wreath shape with gesso, then applied glitter glue, flowers, blue and gold lumieres, and frosted mica flakes from Prima.

The photo is on a piece of watercolor paper, painted with a mix of Twinkling H20s and Lindy's Stamp Gang. The blue flowers are made with tracing paper and a Sizzlits die, tattered flower garland.  I put them in a puddle of lindy's stamp gang, then heat dried them.

I strung the beads with a fine needle and black thread.  With the needle I poked through a big pile of the beads held in the palm of my hand.  It goes pretty quickly.

I painted the chipboard by Blue Fern with Lindy's Stamp Gang.

I brushed the tiny Vintaj metal word pieces with some gold mica powder, however, it doesn't show up well in the photos.

Thanks for looking!

"Where's My Horse?"

For the August Inspiration Board Challenge at Scraps of Darkness, Scraps of Elegance Mixed Media Community.

I used the beautiful July Scraps of Elegance kit, Patricia's Memoirs, and some things from the June SOE kit too. For the design I used a sketch from SOE,  from 2014.

I was inspired by the forest theme of the board, and took the colors of the tiered cake for my page.

I asked my husband for some ideas about what to title this, he usually has a silly one that I like. I got the usual "I don't know!" I said, well how about "Funny Hat Day?"  He said "sure", and when I was walking away he said, "Where's my horse?" For a second I had no idea what he was talking about, and then I started laughing, and said  "That is so funny, thank you!"

Purple Shine

I used the beautiful Scraps of Elegance July kit Patricia's Memoirs with this photo of me, from a long time ago. I'm standing in the backyard of a small house my husband and I rented for awhile, he was working nearby. That house you see wasn't mine. It was one street over on the Pacific Ocean, at Channel Islands, Oxnard, California.
This was one of the best times of my life.

The piece with the purple flower is canvas. I painted it with oil paint and gelatos, then brushed on some mica powder, and finally I brushed on puddles of a mix of blue and purple  Lindy's Stamp Gang colors.

I put a paintbrush into a container of gesso, then literally flung it onto the paper, I'de say half a teaspoon.I repeated this in three or four areas of the page. I  then painted with layers of Twinkling H20s, thin layers of gesso, and more paint. In some areas its obvious I left the top layer just gesso.  I rubbed in some grey mica powder on the left side of the page. I covered the whole page with white mica powder, it makes everything look better, and takes the dull look off the gesso.

The sun kind of bleaches out the color, but you can see all the shine from the mica.  I find direct light shows every single detail, but on the negative side, you get a lot of shadows that also cover up things.
