Choose To Be Happy

Hi everyone! Melissa here with a new design team page for the amazing Shimmerz Paints! These paints are so wonderfully glimmery and delightful. I love to use them! The chipboard and a lot of the textural elements are from Reneabouquets. The photo is from free google by Stella de Libero.

To make this page, I put the layers under the photo together, I taped on card stock under the image to make it stronger. Below that is a layer of watercolor paper, and at the bottom is corrugated cardboard. I ripped off a lot of the paper from the cardboard, and painted it with gesso.I put layers of foam core board between everything, to add dimension. I stenciled on texture paste, and then added color to it and the background watercolor paper. I used A Rose (by any other name)  , Olive U Truly Inklingz, and Christmas Cheer Shimmerz .

I picked out Beautiful Board, sponged on gesso, then painted it with Shimmerz Paints, and when dry, topped it with a thick coat of Clear Rock Candy Crackle Paint. The colors I used are:A Rose(by any other name, and Green Olive Shimmerz . I added First Blush Inklingz  on top. The brown on the page and chipboard is Penny 4 Your Thoughts Inklingz. You can also see gold mica powder, I dabbed it on to sort of tie everything together. The background colors also include Imperial Amethyst Inklingz, and a lot of the First Blush. I used all the above colors on the stenciled areas, watercolor paper and cardboard under the photo.

To add visual interest I added micro beads, glass glitter, metal and distress glitter, seed beads, glass beads, pearls, Swarovski crystals, rhinestones, pressed flowers, lichen, leaves, bark, Prima flowers, lace,   metal from Tim Holtz, wire, and my stash, and bling from my stash.

Thank you so much for looking, and have a great week!

Explore, Dream,Discover!

Hi everyone! Melissa here with a design team page for the amazing Reneabouquets! Go and see all the beautiful things there! I have used a photo by Mateusz Ozminksi - artozi, with his permission. I made this page as gift for my brother in law Henry's tiki hut.

To make this page I put texture paste on watercolor paper with a credit card and a Prima stencil, and added Shimmerz Paints over the whole page. To do this I brushed on water, then added the paint. I put the layers under the photo together. I taped on card stock under the image to make it stronger. Below that is a layer of watercolor paper, and at the bottom is corrugated cardboard.I tore off most of the paper from the surface from the cardboard, and painted it with gesso. I put layers of foam core board between everything, to add dimension. While the texture paste was wet, I sprinkled on a mix of stuff that I clean off my table whenever I make a page. It's made up of micro beads, seed beads, glitter, and more. I put on a layer of glossy accents and put another layer of the mix on.

I picked out Beautiful Board(BBoard), prepped it with white gesso, and painted it with Prima Art Alchemy Paints. I used Ancient Coin on the left, and Steampunk Copper on the right.I attached the BBoard to the page with double sided foam tape. I topped them with a thick layer of Ranger Clear Rock Candy Crackle Paint.

To add visual interest I glued on micro beads, glass glitter, mica flakes, seed beads, glass beads, pearls, Swarovski crystals, rhinestones, pressed flowers and leaves, lichen, gauze, shells, glass pebbles, a Reneabouquet Bee, metal from Reneabouquets, andTim Holtz, and bling and metal from my stash. I used glossy accents. Sometimes I added a dot of it to tiny things to attach them, other times I spread on a layer of glue and sprinkled things on.

I added more Shimmerz Paint on top of the glitter and micro beads. I drew out the colors of the photo onto the watercolor paper and the rest of the page. The gold is paint, and also gold mica powder.

I rubbed on copper wax onto a lot of raised areas of the page, then topped it with gold mica powder. I think the wax makes the powder stick better, and makes it pop.

I used stickers that look like pieces of eight, you can see one above, at the lower left corner of the cardboard. The bee is sitting on a glass locket pendant. I put a piece of Stamperia Alchemy Paper in it.
One of the last steps was splashing on Higgins White Ink. It's a lot easier to use than watered down gesso, less messy, and I love how opaque it is. I took a small brush, dipped it into the ink, and tapped on the wood part of the brush.

Thank you so much for looking, and have a great week!

Mermaids Welcome!

Hi everyone, Melissa here for the amazing Shimmerz Paints! I love the quality and color of these paints. I can get the exact color and shimmer I want with them. The chipboard, paper, and a lot of the textural elements are from Reneabouquets.

To make this page I applied clear gesso to Blue Fern paper. I put the layers under the photo together, I taped on card stock under the image to make it stronger. Below that is a layer of watercolor paper, and at the bottom is a layer of canvas.I put layers of foam core board between everything, to add dimension. I painted the canvas with gesso. I stenciled on texture paste, painted it with Steely Blue Eyes Inklingz, and topped it with Clear Rock Candy Crackle.

I picked out Beautiful Board, sponged on gesso, then painted it with Shimmerz Paints, and when dry, topped it with a thick coat of Clear Rock Candy Crackle Paint. The colors I used are: Blue My Mind, and First Blush Inklingz. and Peacock's Plume, and Christmas Cheer Shimmerz. The brown is Penny 4 Your Thoughts Inklingz. I used a wet on wet technique, I brushed on color, then while wet, dropped in different colors. The crackle paint gives it an even, spread out appearance. You can also see gold mica powder, I dabbed it on to sort of tie everything together. The background colors by the mermaids, and on the canvas and watercolor paper are the Penny color, Honeymoon Inklingz,Imperial Amethyst Inklingz, and Ultra marine Shimmerz.

To add visual interest I added micro beads, glass glitter, metal and distress glitter, seed beads, glass beads, pearls, Swarovski crystals, rhinestones, pressed flowers and leaves, metal from Reneabouquet,Vintaj, Tim Holtz, and my stash, and bling from my stash.

This photo was taken a long time ago, my sister in law had a dinner for us the night before my husband and I left from Northport, Long Island, to California. It was for a job transfer, and we drove, almost 3000 miles. My hubby is on the left, a little of  him, then me, my father and mother in law, Einar and Stella, and my sister in law, Liz. You can see the water in the background.

At the bottom, on the background paper I added a lot of Pixie Dust Blingz.

I rubbed on silver mica powder in several areas on the background paper.

Thank you so much for looking, and have a great week!

See Beauty Everywhere

Hi everyone! Melissa here with a new design team page for the amazing Reneabouquets! Go and see all the beautiful things there!

I have used a photo from free google, by A.M. Lorek.

To make this page I brushed clear gesso on paper by Blue Fern Studios.I put texture paste on with a credit card and a Prima stencil, and then put the layers under the photo together. I taped on card stock under the image to make it stronger. Below that is a layer of watercolor paper, and at the bottom is corrugated cardboard.I tore off most of the paper from the surface from the cardboard, and painted it with gesso. I put layers of foam core board between everything, to add dimension. I added lace to either side of the page, then glued on pieces of Stameria Art Alchemy paper around the layers.

I picked out Beautiful Board.and placed it where I wanted it around the page. I painted the BBoard itwith gesso, then a mix of two Shimmerz Paints, Steely Blue Eyes Inklingz, and Green Olive Shimmerz. I topped it with Ranger Clear Rock Candy Crackle Paint.

I used green and brown Shimmerz on the watercolor paper, and on the cardboard.
To add visual interest I glued on micro beads, glass glitter, mica flakes, seed beads, glass beads, pearls, sequins, Swarovski crystals, rhinestones, tiny pieces of gold lace and black tulle, pressed flowers and leaves, flowers from Prima, metal from Reneabouquets, andTim Holtz,Vintaj, and bling and metal from my stash.

I used some blue paint around the layers, on the background paper. I rubbed on copper wax, then layers of gold and aqua mica powders, on the edges of the layers. I rubbed on black ink around the outside border of the bg paper. I painted the top and bottom of the bg paper with a thin layer of brown Winsor and Newton watercolors, I had taken a photo of what Id done so far and decided it needed more brown. I brushed on white ink in areas, to create more negative space. I had used too much brown. I splashed on white ink as well.

My father in law used to collect moose, so I stamped one on. There's a cat stamp to the left of it for my mother in law, she adored her cats. It's kind of hard to see.
I rubbed on gold mica powder on a lot of surfaces of all the textural elements, to kind of tie things together.

Here's some photos that show even more detail, and they're angled to show the dimension.

Thank you so much for looking, and have a great week!
