Reneabouquets Artists With An Edge September 2020 Moodboard Challenge

Hi everyone! It's September, which means there is a new mood board challenge in the Reneabouquets Artists With an Edge Facebook Group

Beautiful Board (BB)Chipboard will celebrate its 3rd Birthday this year on September 1st!! I've focused on using Beautiful Board on this page. To help celebrate, the giveaway for this challenge will be a large amount of BB.

In case you are new to my blog, we do a mood board challenge every month in the Reneabouquets Artists With an Edge Facebook Group. Everyone who enters a new project using items from Reneabouquets, gets entered into a chance to win a Reneabouquets prize package at the end of the month.

Here is the kick off project that I made for this month's challenge.

This photo is of Maude Fealy, a famous stage actress from around 1900.

To make this page I applied clear gesso to Blue Fern Jane's Memoirs paper.

I put the layers under the photo together, starting with taping on watercolor paper under the image to make it stronger and to lie flat. Below that is a watercolor paper mat, and at the bottom is corrugated cardboard. I tore off most of the paper from the top of the cardboard, and painted it with gesso.I put two or three layers of cardboard between the layers to add dimension.

I put the layers with the photo onto the page.

I had already painted the page with clear gesso. I applied Prima Platinum crackle paste with a stencil and an old credit card. I brushed on white gesso on the page where I planned on glueing things on. I picked out Beautiful Board, and sponged on gesso.

I drew out the shapes and the black and white of the photo onto the layers. I added pale aqua, teal and  gold Shimmerzpaints, and layers of gesso, black ink, and mica powders.

I painted all the BB with gold mica powder and water, and some Dragon's Eye Spark's acrylic paint from Finnabair.

To add visual interest I added micro beads, seed beads, gold leaf, glass glitter, glass beads, pearls, rhinestones, bark and lichen, white tulle, metal from Reneabouquets,Tim Holtz, and Vintaj, flowers from  Reneabouquets,Prima, and bling and metal from my stash. Most of the things are glued on individually with Glossy Accents. There are some fussy cut images from Prima papers.
As a final touch I rubbed on Prima wax in white gold over some of the stencil work, and around the borders of the page. I think it gave it a nice grungy look.

Thank you so much for looking, and have a great week!

Shimmerz Paints Design Team Page, With All My Heart, By Melissa Larson

Hi everyone! Melissa here with a new design team post for the amazing Shimmerzpaints! I love their rich texture and colors!

To make this page I put the layers under the photo together first, including taping water color paper under the image to make it stronger and lie flat. Below that is a mat of watercolor paper, and at the bottom is corrugated cardboard. I tore off most the paper from the surface of the cardboard, and painted it with white gesso. I put two or three layers of cardboard between each of the layers to add dimension, and taped it to the background paper with double sided foam tape.

I coated Prima's Georgia Blue paper with clear gesso, put the layers with the photo on, then applied Prima Platinum texture paste with a small piece of a credit card,a Prima stencil.

I picked out Reneabouquets Beautiful Board, figured out where it would go on the page, took it off, and prepped it with white gesso.

I painted the mat,and corrugated, with Ultra Marine Shimmerz ,Steely Blue Eyes and Dear John Letter  Inklingz . The chipboard has Dear John on it too.

To add visual interest I glued on Antique Linen embossing powder by Ranger, to look like sand,      micro beads, seed beads, gold leaf, swarovski crystals, glass shard glitter, glass beads, pearls, sequins, tulle, pressed flowers, leaves, lichen, flowers from Reneabouquets and Prima, metal from Reneabouquets, and bling and metal from my stash.  A lot of the textural elements are from Reneabouquets, including the printed Beautiful Board.

At the bottom of the mat I used Precious Metal Shimmerz, and more Steely Blue Eyes.

I used a lot of different colors at the lower right of the page: Imperial Amethyst, Blue Lagoon,Me And Blue, Oakie Bear Blue, Blue My Mind, and Green Goddess Inklingz. The Shimmerz: Pool Me Closer, Ultra Marine, and Peacock's Plume. The pink colors above are:Dear John, Coral Reef, and A Rose(By Any Other Name) Inklingz.

I used a lot of white gesso at the bottom of the page, because things started looking too busy.

Thank you so much for looking, and have a great week!

Count Your Blessings

Hi everyone! Melissa here with a new design team page for the amazing Reneabouquets! Go and see all the beautiful things there!I have used a photo from free google, from Stella de Libero.

To make this page I applied texture paste with a stencil onto watercolor paper. I put the layers under the photo together, starting with taping on card stock under the image to make it stronger. Below that is a layer of watercolor paper, and at the bottom is corrugated cardboard.I tore off most of the paper from the surface of the cardboard, and painted it with gesso. While the gesso was wet, I sprinkled on Ultra Thick Embossing Powder, and heated it just until it melted. I put layers of foam core board between everything, to add dimension. After I had the page all put together, I added Shimmerz Paint to the background watercolor paper. Later I painted on white Higgins Ink, to cover areas where it looked too busy with all the textural things, or if there was too much color. I also splashed the page with the white ink.

I picked out Beautiful Board, applied gesso with a cosmetic sponge, then painted it with Shimmerz Paints, and when dry, topped it with a thick coat of Clear Rock Candy Crackle Paint. You can also see gold mica powder, gold ink, Art Alchemy paint in Ancient Coin, and Prima Waxes on the BBoard.

To add visual interest I added micro beads, glass glitter, metal glitter, distress glitter, seed beads, glass beads, pearls, Swarovski crystals, rhinestones, pressed flowers and leaves, bark, strands of gauze, tulle, small pieces of iridescent wrapping paper, gold mica flakes, shells, metal from Reneabouquets, Tim Holtz, Vintaj, Prima, flowers from Prima, and bling and metal from my stash.

I edged the photo, watercolor mat, and corrugated with black gesso, Prima Wax, gold mica powder. I edged the chipboard with black ink too. Ink is really easy to use, it's cleaner and easier to control than gesso, You just put a little on your brush. With gesso you need to add water, and it's just not as neat as ink.

I really worked on the colors on the page to try and make a composition that was balanced. I have to stand and add things, to get the big picture, kind of like doing a jigsaw puzzle. I've been using just watercolor brushes, they're easier to use than flat ones. To put gesso on the corrugated, I use a flat brush, and the same one every time, because it can really ruin brushes unless you clean it right after you use it.

You can see I smeared on wax on the photo mat and the bg paper.

Thank you so much for looking, and have a great week!

Live, Create, Tell The Story

Hi everyone! Here's my new design team page for the amazing Shimmerz Paints! I have used a photo from free google, by A.M. Lorek.

To make this page I applied clear gesso to Blue Fern paper, Happy Accident 2. I put texture paste on with a Celtic stencil from TCW,then put the layers with the photo together. I tore off parts of the surface paper of corrugated cardboard, and painted it with gesso, I added the photo with a layer of cardstock taped on, then watercolor paper. I put foam core board between everything to add dimension, and to allow room to tuck things into.

I picked out chipboard from Reneabouquets, and painted it with a mix of Green Olive , and Christmas Cheer Shimmerz. I also used a little Penny For Your Thoughts and Imperial Amethyst Inklingz. I dropped wet paint into wet paint as my technique. I dribbled on a thick layer of Clear Rock Candy Crackle with a paintbrush. On the watercolor paper under the photo I used Steely Blue Eyes , Olive U Truly, and the Penny Inklingz.

The purple above the photo is Honeymoon Inklingz, and Steely Blue Eyes.

To add visual interest I applied micro beads, seed beads, glass glitter, mica flakes, pearls, sequins, rhinestones, Swarovski crystals, glass pebbles, shells, pressed flowers, lichen, and leaves, a pinecone, Prima flowers, a butterfly from Reneabouquets, Tim Holtz, Prima, and Vintaj metal, and chain and bling from my stash.

I glued on small pieces of gauze I dyed with Christmas Cheer, and the green color is Green Olive and the Penny.

The little moth at the bottom is Tim Holtz washi tape.

Thank you so much for looking, and have a great week!

Look For The Magic

Hi everyone! Melissa here with a design team page for Reneabouquets!  I love all the amazing things there! This photo is from free google, by A.M. Lorek.

To make this page I applied clear gesso to Happy Accident 2 paper, by Blue Fern. I put texture paste on with a stencil, then put the layers under the photo together. I taped on cardstock underneath the image to make it stronger, below that is a lahyer of watercolors paper. At the bottom is corrugated cardboard. I had torn off most of the paper from the cardboard, and painted it with gesso. I put layers of foam core board between the layers to add dimension.

I picked out Beautiful Board (B Board), painted it with Shimmerz Paints, and topped it with Clear Rock Candy Crackle.

To add visual interest I added micro beads, glass glitter, mica flakes, small pieces of iridescent wrap, sequins, seed beads, pearls, Swarovski crystals, glass beads,a brad, pressed flowers, moss, lichen, a 49 and Market flower, a Reneabouquets butterfly, metal from Renea,Vintaj, Prima, Tim Holtz, bling from my stash, shells, and glass pebbles. There are a few fussy cuts pieces from Prima Spring Farmhouse, and a piece of  Stamperia Alchemy paper. I used some pieces from floral picks.

I love using pressed flowers, they add delicate texture, color, and soften the even shapes of the other elements.

I dabbed on some glossy accents and then mica powder under the glass pebbles. I painted the raised areas of the texture paste with Shimmerz.

I added Shimmerz and beads on the cardboard, and painted the edges of the layers with paint, black gesso, and swiped on gold mica powder.
The Tim Holtz tag has Stamperia paper on it, topped with Dimensional Accents.

I dyed gauze with gold, and other pieces with a mix of green and brown. I glued on small pieces of it on the page.

I patted on gold mica powder all around on the different items, to sort of tie things together.
Thank you so much for looking, and have a great week!
