The Wizard of Oz

Hi everyone! Melissa here with a page for Paper House, featuring the beautiful new Wizard of Oz line! The images and colors used on the paper are inspirational, and fun to work with! 

Supplies Used:

To make this page I put the image onto watercolor paper, and gave it some dimension on the page by putting a piece of foam core board underneath it. I put on some texture paste with a stencil. Using crackle medium I glued on a strip of gauze around the picture.  To make a surface  to paint on, I covered the gauze with gesso, and sprinkled on gold micro beads. 

 I applied blue watercolor, then blue water soluble oil pastel. I added different shades of mica flakes, blue pearls, rhinesones,tulle, and beads, to add more texture.

 In random areas I rubbed on gold and pearl colored mica powder, and clear crackle texture paste.  I drew around some of the texture paste with a black watercolor pencil, and softened the lines with water. I applied black water color all around the image to try and get the crackle lines and other textures more visible.

Hi Paper House fans! Melissa joining you today with a project highlighting our puffy stickers!These bird and flower puffy stickers would be beautiful additions to many types of projects. The flowers are so realistic and fresh, and the the birds are wonderfully cute.  I've used a photo of my son's girlfriend,and surrounded her with nature's beauty.

What could be nicer than  bluebirds on a scrapbook page? 

To make this page I used 12 x 12 watercolor paper, I wanted a very neutral background so that the stickers would be the focus of the page.  I cut up another piece of the same type of paper, and to create dimension, arranged it with foam core board in between some of the layers.

I took a stencil and applied some texture paste.

I added a variety of things to add texture,including gauze, microbeads, sequins, feathers,pressed flowers and rhinestones.  I used a paintbrush to apply watercolors, and gesso as well.

Autumn Page

Here's an autumn page for you that I made using papers and stickers from  the beautiful, adorable new line, Autumn Woods. I think this photo of my son fit the theme well, it was taken at a local state park called Armand Bayou.  

Supplies Used:

Papers and stickers from the Autumn Woods Collection.

To make this page I created dimension by attaching foam core board underneath both the photo,and the mat paper underneath it. I used a stencil and texture paste and put the branch on, painted it with water and gold mica powder,and applied brown watercolor over it.  I used tan acrylic paint on different areas of the page. I love the fox and racoon, they added so much visual interest.

I distressed all the edges of the paper, and painted them with gold mica powder and water, then brown watercolor. I ripped the page and added another layer underneath it.

I used a few pressed wildflowers from an adjacent park, to create texture.

I die cut some leaves, and painted them with watercolors.

Breathe

Here's a beach card for you.  I love the dreamy mood created in the beautiful photo by Paper House, and decided to use it as my focal point,and inspiration.

To make this I sprayed my dry watercolors with water,scribbled on some water soluble oil pastels on my craft mat, and made little puddles of paint of the blues,greens, and purples I planned on using. Using watercolor paper, I misted about half the page, and applied a small amount of paint.  I misted again, and tilted the page in different directions to let the paint run, then again to soften any hard edges. I used a heat gun to dry it,then put on more layers in different colors. I also used metallic watercolors,and watercolor pencils.  I took small amounts of teal liquid pearls and brushed them on all the edges of the paper,flowers, and on random spots on the glitter. 

You can see I flicked on paint all around. To create more texture I used glass glitter in clear and champagne,shells, bling, and sequins. The page got too busy, so I brushed on some white watercolor,and white acrylic paint. I rubbed on pearl mica power all over the card. To finish up I put more diamond glitter glue on the edges of the flowers.

  The little girl is from a greeting card I cut up, and the great egret is from a photo I took locally.

The flowers are watercolors over dry gesso, followed by clear glass glitter and pearl mica powder.

 Hi everyone! Melissa here with an art journal page for you.  I love the detail and intense colors of Paper House products, so I made a stunning pink dahlia image the center of the page.

Supplies Used:

• Flamingo Mini Trim Cards 12" Colorways Scrapbook Paper
• Flamingo 12" Cardstock Stickers
• Mini Mixed Butterfly Puffy Sticker
• Primroses Puffy Sticker

I used a page of a  9 x 12 watercolor book to support all the media I wanted to use. I prepped the page with white gesso, followed by texture paste applied through some paper die cuts.  I used pink shimmery watercolor, and water soluble oil pastels. I didn't have a sprays in the colors I wanted to use, so I mixed what I had with water, and brushed a lot on the diamond texture. I tipped the page in different directions, let the color run all over,misted it with water to soften and blend it,and used a heat gun to dry it. I used the same process for the green. I glued the beautiful flower image onto a piece of paper and put it on the page. To add more texture I added glass glitter, micro beads, seed beads, and threads I pulled from a piece of gauze. I lightly brushed the pink crayon over the diamond texture along the outer edges of the page, and misted it. I added green watercolor randomly in between the diamonds.  If any of the  colors ran I blotted them off with a paper towel.

To add more visual interest I put on butterfly and rose stickers, rub ons, flowers,bling, stamps, a cut up black and white vintage photo, and die cuts.

The page looked too busy, so I brushed white gesso over some areas. Along the edges of the page I brushed it on lightly, as an accent.

I don't really like a mat white look, so I brushed pearl mica powder over all the areas I'd used gesso.

I painted a few cherry blossoms using a photo as a reference,and then stenciled on some modeling paste. I added flowers, pearls, die cuts, microbeads,sequins, and stickers.  I added more paint using Shimmers , Twinkling H20s, Watercolor pencils, Viva Decor Inka Gold, and Winsor and Newton watercolors. After almost everything I put on, I used an empty hairspray bottle filled with water to mist on water. This blended the colors and softened edges.

The die cuts are by Sizzix. The girl is from Tim Holtz Found Relatives, her crown is by Paper House, The Wizard of Oz collection. 

The metal bird is Vintaj.

I used a lot of gold mica powder all over.

The peace, love and joy rub ons are from Tim Holtz.

I used some lace.
